Hi! Whew, what a day. I have some interesting stories....
Limit? You'd think there would be a limit as to how many pets a family can bring in at once. Well, it seems not! Yesterday, when I was asking the nurse's aide before me what needed to be done, she replied, "well, I feel sorry for you. Later, people will come to pick up their ten pets." I was shocked, and went to look, and-- sure enough-- there were 5 cats and 5 dogs. Usually the cats are the troublesome ones, the "caution" ones, but this time, there were two dachshunds that were growling and barking and snapping whenever someone walked by. Of course, the two huge dogs weren't a problem-- it was the little ones. They thought they were ten times bigger than they really are; that is a characteristic of dachshunds. That's why they always pick fights! The cats were nice too. There isn't a cool ending to this story, but the owner did come back to get some of her animals. The cats were all in a huge dog carrier, which seems kind of funny comparing to the normal-sized cat carriers.
Charcoal I say that all the cool stuff happens when I leave. Well, it's kind of true! Just as I was leaving, a cat and a dog came in. The dog, a puppy beagle, came first. She was very cute... and she had probably eaten some unknown human medicine, which would be poisonous. So, as a precaution, we gave her activated charcoal to eat, which is like a liquidy thingy that will bind with the poison and get it out of her system before it is absorbed into the body. We were prepared for the worst, for black mushy mess everywhere, but she ate it like it was candy, as we were syringe-ing it into her mouth. Then later she tried to eat a metal bar. I would not be surprised if she ate the medicine!
The cat was "fumigated". I don't know what they meant by this, but they said she was poisoned probably by some cockroach-killing stuff. My mom thinks that the people cockroach-bombed the house, and the cat was hiding there. So, we gave her charcoal also, and she hated it. I probably would too... gross black stuff that runs all over her mouth. Then, we had to bathe her with dish soap, to get it all out of her fur. Poor cat, this was a double whammy. No fun. But, I think she's OK. I'll check back today and see if she went home or not.
The end.
