I am thankful for a lot of things! I am thankful for my family, my friends, my pets, my work, church, that I have enough food and provisions each day, the wonderfulness of God's creation, God Himself loving us and sending Christ for us, school, jell-o, etc.....
I went to work 3 days in a row this time! Wow.
Thanksgiving (Thursday):
Very very very slow day. They thought it would be, but I wanted to cover for one of my fellow nurse's aides because she had Thanksgiving food in the evening, and I was already done with our family thingy by this time. It was fun. :) Ah yes, so the only interetsing thing was a poor little chihuahua with a ripped toenail. She was seriously the best little chihuahua I've ever seen, though. She was adorable, and very behaving. No dramatic yelping and screaming, just calm, worried little shivering. Aww! So the doctor numbed her up, pulled it the rest of the way off, and then bandaged her up all pretty. There was one of everyone there. One doctor, one nurse, one receptionist, and one me. Interesting! I spent a lot of time chatting with the people and getting to know them. It was fun.
Friday:
Nothing superty-duperty fascinating. However, it was getting a bit busy so at the end, I was doing some nursey chores. The very last thing I did, was, after coming in from the back room, the nurses looked at me with relief and said, "HEY!" I was confused, and just replied, "yes?" They asked me if I wanted to trim nails. I just said, "um, sure..." kind of hesitantly. I clip nails for all my pets at home, but not for other peoples. But they were busy, so OK. I went to the room, and got one pet at a time to the back to do it. They were both tiny little dogs-- one a puppy italian greyhound sort of dog, one a dachsund. The people warned me that the dachsund needed a muzzle last time, and BOY did he! He was wriggling all around and squealing even before I clipped him. I didn't even get his quick and he was whining like a nut! I finally had to get help for the last toe. I did the chihuahua just fine--- she was just trying to eat my face, with love, the entire time. Haha, a ferocious tongue it was!
Saturday:
First it was busy, then it was slow. In fact, it was so slow, I had time for a break! But at one point, we had to rebandage one broken-leg-dog's splint, because she was hyper and wiggly and forgot she was injured and moved the bandage. This is actually a story about me, believe it or not. But don't worry, I'm fine I hope. There were 3 of us holding her (because she was so wiggly) and one nurse bandaging. I don't know if it was because we were so close or something, but all of a sudden I became really dizzy. I felt like I was going to faint and my vision was sort of swimming, like half-blacking-out, but not all the way. I was also nauseous, and had a gagging sort of feeling like I was going to throw up. I was really hot. In fact, I almost had to tell the nurses I was going to sit down and leave the job of holding the wiggly dog, but I stayed. When we were done with the job, and everyone left, I became back to normal very quickly. But, I felt all sweaty all over, like you do after having a fever all night. But this was only for about 3 or 4 minutes! I don't understand. But anyways, this is mostly written so I can remember to tell the doctor. Back to the animal stories.....
I brought Shasta for a rabies vaccination (vax) and he was very squirmy and hyper. He likes to ride in the car. He likes to bark at the dog with the broken leg. He likes to howl when I left the room. Yikes! This kid is crazy. He had a lot of fun wiggling while the nurse was poking and examining him, and didn't mind the thermometer (often an awkward part for the critters, understandably). What a dog I have! Haha, fun stuff.
