Contagious diseases

We have a dog with possible leptospirosis at work. This disease can be life-threatening, and it is contagious between dogs and humans alike. We are awaiting the test results for if the dog has lepto or not. Dr. T. said that it was a possibility based on the symptoms, but we're just taking precautions to protect us staff. The only problem is... One of the nurses and I were handling the dog a lot before we knew to be careful. It's spread by bodily fluids, so I hope I didn't let any blood, urine, or anything else get into an open wound. I'm generally careful, so I should be fine, but you never know! This is something dogs can, and should, get vaccinated for. It's a warning! You don't want it. You have to treat it with antibiotics, many of which I'm allergic to at least a bit. So, all the better if I was NOT exposed to lepto, because then I don't have to be vomiting up antibiotics! Yay!

We also had a parvo puppy, who is so sweet! Yesterday she was acting like a limp rag, but today when I came in in the morning, she was yipping and barking for attention! So cute, and so much better! I was glad. It's very contagious, and every time I went to give her medicine or some food, I had to wear this backwards-raincoat looking thing. Beautiful. It kept falling off, and I would hope not to contaminate my scrubs!

It seems like I sprayed my arms with KennelSol (disinfectant) many times today.
