Yip Yip Yooray!

I forgot to say about the kitten last week.... he was okay! That night that I worked, he ended up being taken to intensive care at another 24-hour hospital, and in the morning he came back to ours for a recheck, and he was so much better! His catheter was out of his femur, and he was moving around much more... he was trying to crawl away. On that morning, he was meowing, but not really--- he sounded like a squeaky door. He was very cute, but kind of pitiful-sounding... but by the afternoon, he was meowing normally. He was I think being force-fed, because he wasn't very interested in food, but because he was better, I was very happy. I am sure he lived. Yay!

Yucky Ears: It's true. We had a cocker spaniel come in with an awful ear infection, poor dog. I felt bad, because it must have hurt. The nurses took a sample first of the ear goop to find out exactly what it was. Then, we gave her pain medicine and cleaned her ears, heavy-duty. There was much ear squirting (with the nose squirter used for human babies), which must have been horrible. It got out the worst of the bacteria and ear wax, and several cleaning sweeps with gauze and ear swabs got out the rest. She will feel better, soon, and the owners were relieved, as well. They had tried to clean it at home with commercial pet-ear-cleaners, but the nurses were unimpressed, as was the bacteria. They said that usually those cleaners have alcohol in them, which is very irritating to an ear which is as sore as this. So, if you have a dog with a massive ear infection, please take him to the vet!
