Um...

Today was an "erm" and "ugh" kind of day at work. Nothing much happened, and a lot of people were grouchy. I don't know why, but since I tend to absorb moods from people around me, it made me unhappy as well. It was slow, also, which makes it worse! I was walking around, checking the same exact things to make sure that they don't need my attention. Such as: the surgery tools sink (did they do a surgery in the 2 minutes since I last checked?), the cat ward (did anyone pee recently? Do we need to change a litterbox?), the supply tables (are they empty? Did someone suddenly need to take all of the 10mL syringes?), etc. It was boring.

Except for:

Big Poop. This is exciting, isn't it? We had a couple of my favorite pets there (who come a lot, kind of). A german shepherd and a little white fluffy-ish dog who is deaf. They are wonderful, and very sweet. We have 3 runs in the dog area: 1, 2, and 3. When I got there, both pets were in run #1. When I came back half an hour later, to the area, they were in run #2. I wondered why, but didn't really think about it. 15 minutes later when I came to the back again to check on things, I found out why! Our lovely german shepherd boy had a diarrhea problem, and it was all over the run. He was so excited, and they wanted to come out. So, of course I had to move them out (I can't leave them like that), so when they saw the leashes, they started dancing for joy in their run. I took him out first and moved him back to #1, which had been hosed down. As he was prancing around in between kennels, he left many yellow-brown footprints outside of the kennels. Thrilling, I know. It was my job to clean it later... Anyways, when I came back for the little white buddy, he was so polite that he sat down before I opened the door. The bad thing was that he sat right in the diarrhea. Lovely. His beautiful white tail was all smelly now, so when I moved him, I donned my trusty pair of stretchy gloves and was swishing his swishy tail around in some warm water. Then I wrung it out like a squeegee and dried it, and they were happy as clams, and then they went home.

Lizard. This story is not as long. We had a petsmart Bearded Dragon there, because of an eye infection. He wasn't eating very well, though, but he was cute, so I thought he should be in this blog. There was also a turtle. He was cute, too, and he had a skin infection--poor guy.

Toenail?. Two dogs had broken toenails, down to the quick (the sensitive blood vessel running in the middle of the nail), so we had to sedate them and rip off the offensive part of the nail and clean it up nicely. Both of the dogs were moaning quite a bit, later. I don't think that it hurt that much-- I think they were being drama queens. One dog was whining quite a bit even before she was sedated. She had extra toes on each of her back feet! It was interesting.
